ARTWORK/PHOTO GUIDELINES
AND SUGGESTIONS

Supported Applications
Supported applications for Mac and PC are QuarkXpress, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat.

Preparation for Sending Files
When preparing to send your files, please include a copy of every placed image in your document (photos and clipart). Please do not embed images, we can only troubleshoot linked images.
All photos should be placed in your document as CMYK, 300 dpi, TIF format. Black and White images should be saved as Grayscale.
Do not use any form of compression (e.g., JPEG, LZW) on any of your images. Un-placed images may be saved as RGB, 300 dpi, JPG format to transfer easier by email or ftp.

PLEASE NOTE: Web images that are low resolution will not print well at all. Simply adjusting the resolution numbers will not make the resolution better. Photos should orginate at a high resolution.

Digital Cameras
Should be set to the highest setting. They produce 72 resolution images, however, the images are very large and will convert well.

  

Photoshop Files
If you produce a layered Photoshop file, please send the layered PSD file, in case modifications need to be made.

Fonts
Please include all fonts specified in your document. Include both screen and printer fonts. If your job is in Illustrator, you can avoid sending fonts by turning all copy to outlines, however, we will no longer be able to edit your text .

Compression Tools
To ensure your files travel safely across the Internet, please compress your files before transfer with a file compression utility such as WinZip (Windows), PKZip (Windows), DropStuff (Macintosh), or ZipIt (Macintosh).

Layouts that need to be rebuilt should include a composite JPEG or PDF to be used as reference.
